Strafford Nordic Center is proud to be the home base for the Strafford Nordic Ski Club.
COVID-19 Message: We are not planning to run a middle or high school ski and biathlon training and racing group this year due to current VT restrictions on Club based group recreational activity. If you are a skier interested in training, we may be able to work with you one on one. Please contact us to work out details.
Here’s how the program usually works: SNC provides an experienced ski coach that will organize training and racing for all participants. Dry land training will be included if/when there is no snow. The coach will determine the racing schedule for school nordic based races, with a goal for high school athletes of competing in the Vermont State Championships. We will work with you to ensure your home school is listed as your affiliation at races, but members of the team will train and compete together under one coach. Middle school racers may also compete in separate BKL races under the guidance of parents, or the coach, if available. If you are interested in Biathlon, races may differ and we will target attendance at the Thursday night Biathlon series in Jericho and spring age group National Championships.
- The program will run concurrent with VPA winter sports season, and run through the VT State Championships (usually late February). Biathletes will train through March for Nationals if they are interested.
- Training will take place from 3:30-4:30pm (a bit later as it stays light). If you want to participate but can’t arrive by 3:30, please contact us so we can make arrangements with the coach.
- Newton school students may take the bus to the Nordic Center with a note – however skis are not allowed on the bus.
- Race fees charged by the host school or other organizer are the responsibility of the athlete. Please work with your home school on whether the school should make payment, or you need to cover the cost. Typical race fees are $6-8 per athlete for school based races, up to $20-$20 for BKL races.
Registration for this program for nordic skiing only is $125 and includes ski rentals while skiing at Strafford Nordic Center. Biathlon rates will be higher, and determined individually based on use of Club equipment.
Biathlon Training sessions
We also offer Biathlon clinics on Sundays. If you interest lies with Biathlon, please consider attending one of more of our Biathlon Clinics.
Strafford Nordic Ski Club’s main focus is to provide organized Nordic skiing and Biathlon opportunities to its members as well as the other Nordic skiing enthusiasts while promoting the growth of the sport in the Upper Valley. We welcome non-club members to join us for training, however, everyone is eligible to join the club.
